Legend Buddy Guy still has the blues
The one-day festival will play host to some impressive national and international names in blues, reggae, funk, roots, pop and swamp rock. Alongside Guy, KT Tunstall, Keb Mo, Wilco, Ian Brown, Midge Marsden, Hollie Smith, Pluto, Little Bushman and The Checks are all set to perform. While the line-up is an impressive range of talent, it cannot match Guy's musical legacy. He has been called the bridge between the blues and rock and roll and has performed with Chicago electric blues pioneers Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, inspiring musicians such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Known for his showmanship on stage, Guy is happy his music is still finding an audience. "Music seems to make people happy, if you are fortunate enough to draw a crowd to do that.
Police warning over new key-logging 'Trojan' spam emails
Police are warning internet users about 'Trojan' emails containing links to malicious websites that can steal sensitive information such as PINs and password log-ins from vulnerable PCs. The UK's National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) said the spam emails contain details of a fictitious order for web hosting or computer goods and display the cost that will supposedly be charged to their credit card. The email also contains a link to a website to view the order in more detail but if people click on the link, it takes them to a malicious website that allows hackers to steal data from their PC. The user is presented with a site that appears to be under construction but an exploit for a security flaw in Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser allows the criminals to plant a key-logging Trojan on an unpatched PC.
Al’s and Vic’s and veggie falafels
I think the menu is best described as exotic fast food. The first time I had lobster and lamb sliders, the second raw oysters on the half shell and an ostrich burger. It's nice the two bars are connected by a door inside. You can have a classy dinner in one, go get your drink on at Al's & Vic's, and never have to worry about the weather outside. .
LibDems send for Steel to examine powers for Holyrood
Former Liberal leader Lord Steel is being asked to reconvene his party's commission into how devolution can be extended, amid growing fears that Gordon Brown may undermine the current review on the issue. Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Nicol Stephen will today tell his conference in Aviemore that he is recalling the Steel Commission with the remit of producing a firm set of detailed proposals on what further powers should be devolved to Holyrood. This will then form the basis of the LibDem contribution to the new process invoked recently whereby the pro-Union parties at Holyrood and Westminster are to look at where devolution should go next. .
SUPER PHREAK: ED PISKOR TALKS “WIZZYWIG”
Sometimes, then as now, this was done for profit or malice, but more often these experiments were motivated by curiosity or simple mischief. Ed Piskors ("American Splendor") new self-published graphic novel, Wizzywig, tells a fictionalized account of the early days of hacking, when enterprising phone phreaks pushed the limits of telephonic applications. CBR News spoke with Piskor about the history of Wizzywig and the personalities and events that inspired it. The story begins with Kevin Boingthump Phenicle already in police custody, and his friend Winston advocating for him on a radio program. This has the effect of adding a touch of "legend" to Boingthumps exploits even before we see him perform his first hack. From here, Wizziwig flashes back to Kevins childhood, a picture of struggle and loneliness that would come to serve his technological obsession well.

Man trapped in grain bin dies
Emergency personnel tried to rescue a Tonica man trapped in a Utica soybean bin Friday morning but were unable to save his life. Harold Paul Beenenga, 56, was working at Utica Elevator and helping load a semi when the accident occurred around 9 a.m. It remained unclear how Beenenga became trapped. However, Utica police chief Joe Bernardoni said Beenenga and co-worker Jerry Carey had portable radios and had been communicating back and forth, but lost contact while Beenenga was in the bin, approximately 10 feet off the ground by Bernardoni's estimate. Workers called into the bin trying to get a response from Beenenga, but there was no reply or sign of life. .
