Under the Hood With Knight Rider 2.0: Trans Am vs. Ford Mustang ...

DEFINITION MUSCLE CAR : internet search, (chrysler300country.com),click on, full table of contents, scroll down, click on muscle cars, under picture click continue, then read the total article. It is amazing how confused people are on the term muscle car. Superchargers, three two barrel carbs, two four barrel carbs, big engines, were used on many pre 1964 vehicles but in low numbers or non affordable to the general population. Nitrous was around well before 1964. Lots of race type engines could be purchased in a vehicle but basically only a professional racer could aquire one. For example Pontiac put lots of 389's their Pontiacs in 1959, is this a muscle car? No. Pontiac developed a S.D.421 engine in 1961 only for race cars, not their production cars. The four barrel was used for oval track racing (professional), and the two barrel version for drag racing (professional).

Kraft's salad dressing fix: Shake up well

We have not brought the innovation required of the category lead," said David Ervin, brand manager for salad dressings at Kraft.

But over the past year, he and others at Kraft have been on a mission to change that. It started as an attempt to repackage the company's dressings.

Kraft created a more modern-looking label and junked the bottle's triangular look for a thinner shape, to better fit a consumer's hand. The new bottle required the company to significantly rework manufacturing lines at its salad dressing plants in Champaign and Garland, Texas.

More than repackaging

But a packaging overhaul alone "could just give the illusion of progress," Ervin said. So, "we were asked to look at completely reshaping the business."

Kraft created from scratch five new olive-oil vinaigrette dressings.

Righetti, St. Joseph hoops open at home

Basketball fans of the Santa Maria Valley won't have to venture far for first-round CIF Southern Section playoff action this coming week, as both Righetti High and St. Joseph scored first-round home games for each of their boys and girls basketball teams.

The highest seed of the bunch, Ron Barba's St. Joseph girls, take their No. 4 ranking into the Division II-A playoffs on Thursday night against Glendora, the No. 3 entry from the Sierra League. Tipoff at Hofschulte Gym is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the Santa Maria Times and Lompoc Record on the Times' web site at www.santamariatimes.com.

At the same time across the street, Righetti's girls open Division III-AA action as the No. 13 seed with a home game against Torrance, with the winner facing a second-round road trip Saturday to No.

Winter Storm Pounds Miami Valley, Driving Dangerous!

Roads in the metro-Dayton area appear to be wet, but a lot of highways and interstates have been the scene of numerous crashes because of slick road conditions.

Travel remains very hazardous. There are many counties that have issued snow emergencies, which means that motorists should travel only if necessary.

2 p.m. Update:
Roads continue to be slick across the region. The best thing to do is to drive carefully if you have to go out on the roadways. News Center 7's Gabrielle Enright said that a lot of people are still packing the stores in Xenia getting some last minute groceries.

Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said road crews are going to be hampered by the strong winds and is going to make clearing the roads tough. Simpson said the best thing to do is to stay home and wait the storm out for the next 24 hours.

A walk down the Yellow Brick Road of Malaysia's Corridor of the future

We are now three days away from the big day for Malaysia's General Election. I've been watching the electronic press and the blogs this last week to see how much of an influence the "E" factor is going to play in this election as far as disseminating of information, spreading gossip, mobilizing people and, of course, campaigning for votes goes. I've also attended a couple of ceramahs just to see how quickly the news/info gets disseminated onto YouTube, and how much of a part YouTube is playing in terms of getting information or messages across. Dear Prime Minister... One big "E" splash that was made during campaigning last week was the launch of the Prime Minister's feedback Web site called warkahuntukpm.com.my, which was launched March 1 with much press and publicity. The concept behind warkahuntukpm.com.my is this: Write to the PM and tell him your issues, and he'll look into the matter.

Barnsley 0-0 Chelsea

He still manages to get in a shot which Cudicini does well to block with his legs. This is good stuff from Barnsley.

43 min: A really strange match, this. Long periods of absolutely bugger all to report, then the odd burst of hectic activity. Of which this isn't one. Still, it's better than Middlesbrough v Sheffield United. Chewing tin foil while being shot in the face would be better than Middlesbrough v Sheffield United. Here, in the absence of fun, allow us to SEXX YA UP. "Short shorts are essential apparel for 2008," pants Russell Child. "Gone are the days of Peter Beardsley, Kevin Keegan and Joe Jordan. Football players are much more attractive now. Let Fernando Torres and Ronaldo lead the way." Not everyone, however, is in the mood to see football's sexface. "Can you please stop eroticising Joe Cole," pleads Julian Menz.

Andy Oram Reports

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- It's an unlikely matter for the United States and other nations to lock horns over: the administration of names and numbers used to reach Internet sites.

'SOCIAL WEB' HAS FAR TO GO, BUT MUCH PROMISE Andy Oram

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Two ideas, diametrically opposed in philosophy and approach, have seized the attention of Internet companies and technologists over the first few years of this century. Given that the century will be so long and we have barely started yet, it's hard to say which will turn out to be most important. One stresses classification, the other community. These two ideas are attracting both money and attention, but neither has yet borne fruit.

Happy New Year, Everyone!

McCain looks confident; Democratic race tightens

I think that this will continue to drag on. There are some in the Democratic Race that would rather sacrifice the life and momentum of the party for their own selfish dream. The test of character and motives will take place tomorrow night once all of the votes are in regarding who is a real Democrat.

John Mcain will gain all of the delgates needed and Oh how happy they will be that the Democrats are still inhouse fighting. I will be glad when this is all over. I am simply sick of it!

Yao's injury raises questions for Rockets' future

But the latest Yao setback may portend even worse karma for the future. For the record, this makes the third injury-muted season in a row for the sixth-year star from China. Last season, Yao managed to join the Rockets for only 48 games, seven less than he played in during the 2005-06 campaign.

So, after missing just two games in his first three seasons, the No. 1 franchise player appears to be unreasonably brittle. And this is just rotten news for the Rockets because their No. 2 franchise player is just as physically shaky.

N.H. Is Campaign Central for Republicans

Polls show a dead-heat, and Romney's campaign is weighing whether to begin running negative ads against Huckabee.

Fred Thompson, the former Tennessee senator, also is trying to compete in Iowa; he's not a factor in New Hampshire.

Should Romney win Iowa's caucuses on Jan. 3, he'd come into New Hampshire in a commanding position and with a strong ground-game; Huckabee's candidacy could be over. But were Romney to lose in Iowa, GOP strategists say he would be wounded but still able to compete in next-up New Hampshire on Jan. 8 because of the foundation he's laid.

If Huckabee triumphs in Iowa, these strategists say, it's unclear whether he can leverage that success into financial and organizational strength in the narrow window between Iowa and New Hampshire.
