Nike Invitational Day One
The evening session held room for just two distance events, but the Ladies managed to make history in one of those events. In the meet-opening swim, the 800-yard freestyle relay, a University of Kansas quartet set the Kenyon Athletic Center Natatorium record with a time of 7:29.42. Kenyon's entry in the same event placed third with a time of 7:30.78, which was a new College record. The Ladies responsible for that time were Lauren Brady (Tyngsboro, MA/Phillips Exeter), Tina Ertel (Halle, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle), Rebecca Wenzlau (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto Senior), and Danielle Arad (Yorba Linda, CA/Tarbut V'Torah). They erased the old Kenyon mark of 7:33.38 set at the 2004 Division III national championship meet. It went without saying that the time was also good for automatic qualification into this season's NCAA DIII Championship.
Loan Scandal Escalates
Asked about Lehmann running its financial aid office while being paid by a lender, Silber said, "I don’t know if it raises concerns" for the university. As the loan scandal has grown in the last two weeks, more and more institutions have become involved. Cuomo started off with a series of information requests and then agreements with colleges to stop taking payments from lenders based on the business the companies gained from being on recommended lender lists maintained by the colleges. Many of the colleges also agreed to repay these funds, which Cuomo called "kickbacks," but many colleges defended as a means of obtaining funds for student aid. Many of those agreements were with Education Finance Partners, whose CEO is also scheduled to appear at the Key West conference on protecting institutions from questions about inducements.

February 2006 Archives
Hope you get a kick out of this photo of little ole me with the towering Las Vegas star. The other guys are Jordi Vilasuso, who was on Guiding Light, and Paul Taylor, who was on As the World Turns. What a lucky gal I was that night, right? In other Mardi Gras news, earlier today Louisiana native Britney Spears surprised some Hurricane Katrina victims with a shopping trip. Then she spent some time hanging in the French Quarter. Wow -- Brit actually almost looks camera ready. .
Facebook snatches ex-Google executive
Founded in February 2004, Facebook has grown rapidly. It now has 34 million visitors a month, according to comScore. It is bringing in $100 million in revenue and has more than 500 employees. McNamee said the company needs to scale its organization and monetize the site in a way that matches the needs of the community. "Those are very hard things to do and they require very different skills than historically have been the company's strength," McNamee said. Facebook was harshly criticized for a recent initiative called Beacon that allowed advertisers to exploit the connections between friends. In 2006 Facebook triggered a user revolt when it released a news feed feature that let people track each other's activities on the site. Sandberg joined Google in 2001 when the search giant was figuring out an advertising strategy that did not detract from the user experience or go against the company's core values of providing search results untainted by commercialism.
Students found inter-religious council
The council will provide new informational services for all students on campus through weekly e-mails, a single calendar for all religious campus events and a Web site that provides directory information for student religious leaders. In addition to working closely with the Chaplain's office, organizers said they hope to collaborate with the Religious Studies Department. The group differs from the existing Multi-Faith Council, which brings together students of different religious backgrounds for discussions and University-wide religious event planning, Kugler said. While the specifics of many of the council's plans have not yet been decided, she said she is excited about the group's potential to draw together students from across all religious traditions.

The advantage of booking travel online is that you can do everything in one place – from arranging flights, to insurance, car hire and hotel reservations. Making all your travel arrangements through one source will often result in a healthy discount. If an online travel retailer does not mention a discount for booking everything through them, ask for one – you'll be surprised what sort of purchasing power you can wield with this approach. The other big bonus with booking travel online is the freedom to endlessly tinker with your desired departure times, dates and preferred airlines until you find a package that not only meets your specific needs, but saves you plenty of cash. Travel agents don't always go that extra mile to hunt for the perfect solution to your needs at the lowest cost, but you certainly will.
